Asheville, North Carolina

Asheville, nestled in a valley in the midst of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, has been my home for 18 years. Asheville is a unique collection of people and cultures living together in one of the most beautiful locations on earth. One visit captures your imagination and your entire being. Just driving into town watching incredible vista and vista ramble past your car window spurs your mind on to what might be taking place just beyond the ridge. You find it impossible to see everything in enough detail as you drive past. But hang on . . . Asheville is nearing and to arrive takes you out of your ordinary life into an almost magical city.

The city slogan – Open your mind – is a hint of what is before you. Open your mind and allow the fast-paced stress of life to pass and let the clean fresh air of a mountain city embrace you. Another slogan for Asheville - any way you like it – can mean many different things to many different folks, you’ll see what I mean when you walk around the sidewalks of Asheville. I find it telling me that I will find what I’m looking for in Asheville, but if you need help to find what you’re looking for check the Explore Asheville site. It will offer many clues to what the Asheville area offers you.

We have it all in Asheville. I’m a Foodie and a wine geek among other things which is part of the reason I love this place so much. Asheville has an incredible food scene; we’ve even coined the term Foodtopian Society to describe ourselves. Yes, its’ a little bit of marketing – but don’t knock it until you’ve checked it out! We have a lively food culture starting with our local farmers, breweries and winery then extending to our varied restaurants, wine/beer shops, bars and grocery options. We’ve even invited some well known food bloggers to check us out to see what they think. Every one of them agreed that Asheville is a unique foodie destination and that they will be back to take it in again.
