Asheville Tailgate and Farmer's Markets

Yes, it's February.  The markets will not be bringing in truck loads of fresh produce and local products for another several weeks.  But it's still not too early to begin planning what produce and local products you can pick up at the many local markets Western North Carolina provides us.

Some of the local products that you can find at our markets are . . .

Local produce such as apples, strawberries, artichokes, arugula, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, chinese greens, collards (of course!), green onions, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, mustard greens, peas, radish, spinach, turnips among others.

Local farm products like farm fresh eggs, grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured pork, free range chicken, farm raised rainbow trout and a variety of goat cheeses.

Along with the above you will find local hand-made pasta, local maple syrup, raw honey, fruit jams, savory tarts, scones, croissants, brick oven breads, body and health care products, artisan crafts and nursery plants and starts.

While there are many stores that you can find some of our local products during the winter, the warmer season offers markets showcasing the freshest that Western North Carolina has to offer.  If you have never stopped at one of our popular markets I urge you to take the time to visit one near you and see what Asheville's Foodtopian Society is all about.  It starts with the fresh products you will find at these incredible markets.
