White Duck Taco Shop to Open May 25 in Asheville River Arts District
To be a Value Driven company devoted to creative edible expression while providing high quality food and strong level of service.
The name White Duck Taco Shop originates from a nickname the Chef earned when she got excited and talked too much to the kitchen staff. They called her "La Pata Blanca" which means White Duck.
The owners are a chef and sommelier.
There is an outdoor patio overlooking the French Broad River and the train tracks. White Duck also has their own parking lot right next to the restaurant. No meters, no tickets, no fees, no garages. Just park and come on up.
White Duck hours will probably be 11:00 am - Sunset most days of the week. No hard liquor is served.
They are available for catering and private functions, including gourmet level events with beer and wine pairings. They can seat 45 people inside and 45 people outside. If your event will require specific items such as glassware, plate ware, table settings, etc... you will need to rent them, but they are able to help with the process from start to finish.
The menus change. The concept is to be affordable high-quality food with a smart beverage component.
There are no waiters and you order food at the counter. There are standard beverage offerings as well as a beverage list. You have to ask for the beverage list and please understand there may be a wait until you get someone to talk to you about it. Beverages available for purchase are to consist of unique creations offered at tremendous value.
White Duck intends to have a lot of snacks, tacos, salads, and other interesting stuff. How does a Lyonnaise Taco (poached quail egg, lardon, greens, dijon vinaigrette) with a nice half-glass of White Burgundy sound?
Be prepared for a consistent core menu supplemented with a smaller, local, organic menu. The organic and local food will be a little more expensive.
There is a courtyard which is family friendly ... The chef is particularly keen on making kid friendly food, mostly for herself, and we will save some for the little guys too.
White Duck Taco Shop is settling into the North End of the River Arts District. The restaurant is in the Hatchery Studios, a salmon-colored building above the flood plain. You may notice a large free parking lot and open courtyard .... and you've found them.
