WNC Chefs Challenge Quarterfinals Week Two: Lexington Ave. Brewery VS. Chef's Table


Congratulations goes to Bistro at Biltmore who was the winner of the first week of the Quarterfinal Chefs Challenge.  The winning team was Chef Michael Gonzales, Sean Carroll, and Rachel vom Orde.

Voted #3 Dish:  Asparagus ricotta fritatta with pickled oranges, pancetta cracklings, and asparagus emulsion

Voted #2 Dish:  Asparagus chorizo and scallops with whipped sweet corn, smoked asparagus, and ancho-cherry syrup

Voted #1 Dish:  Lemon cake with candied asparagus, white chocolate and asparagus ganache, and marcona almond praline


Quarterfinals Week Two Challenge
Monday evening, May 9, Chef Jason Roy of Lexington Ave. Brewery will be up against Chef and Owner Josh Monroe of Chef's Table.  Tickets are still available to see each of these Chefs and their teams cook their way into your hearts and votes.  The competitions each Monday are held at Cucina24 on Wall Street in downtown Asheville, click here for directions.

At each heat, two teams are given a secret ingredient to be featured in their culinary creations. Diners enjoy six dishes – three from each team – but are not told who has made each course. The diners then score the dishes using the same guidelines as a professional food critic to determine who advances to the next round. The top two competitors will face off during the finale at the Asheville Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting in August. The WNC Chefs Challenge offers a unique way to participate in the pressure-filled environment of a world-class culinary competition.
