WNC Chefs Challenge Quarterfinals Week Three: Posana Café VS. Sunburst Trout Company

Lexington Ave. Brewery (LAB) topped Chef's Table on May 9 for the second week of the Western North Carolina Chefs Challenge Quarterfinals.  LAB came out on top with 1.2% of the vote for the night.  Chef's Table was a serious contender winning the number 1 and 3 best dishes for the competition.

Congratulations Lexington Avenue Brewery team of Chefs Jason Roy, Mike Fisera and Nohe Weir-Villatoro for the win.

Strawberry silk snapper with avocado ceviche and smoked scallops, cantaloupe with lime and coconut gremolata.

Strawberry-braised lamb tamales with avocado coulis, strawberry mole, and cumin-toasted strawberry chèvre with strawberry microgreen salad.

Voted #2 Dish: Strawberry-citrus biscuit shortcake with strawberry gelée and St. Germain strawberry coulis, candied blueberries with strawberry whipped cream, and almond-strawberry shake with candied mint.

Quarterfinals Week Three Challenge
The evening of May 16 is the next challenge with Chef Jordan Arace of Posana Café taking on Chef Charles Hudson of Sunburst Trout Company.  Tickets are still available to see each of these Chefs and their teams cook their way into your hearts and votes.  The competitions each Monday are held at Cucina24 on Wall Street in downtown Asheville, click here for directions.

At each heat, two teams are given a secret ingredient to be featured in their culinary creations. Diners enjoy six dishes – three from each team – but are not told who has made each course. The diners then score the dishes using the same guidelines as a professional food critic to determine who advances to the next round. The top two competitors will face off during the finale at the Asheville Wine & Food Festival Grand Tasting in August. The WNC Chefs Challenge offers a unique way to participate in the pressure-filled environment of a world-class culinary competition.
