It seems like no matter where we go, we have to find some local pizza to try. Buona Pizza was our choice in St Pete Beach. It was just a block or so down from our hotel and had good reviews on line. On our last night we walked over to Buona to get our pizza fill.
The restaurant was packed inside and out but there was one table left when we arrived. Promptly approached and invited to take the table by staff, we watched in amazement at the lively business they had for a week night. Yes, Spring Break was beginning for Florida! But luckily the place wasn’t filled full of boisterous teenagers that tend to stretch my nerves to within a hair of shredding. There was an eclectic mix of soccer moms (with their boys at a separate table in the back – very smart women!), families, couples and vacationers.
Buona Pizza has been around since 1975 and promotes their oven fresh New York style pizza along with calzones, signature Italian dishes, fresh salads, hot and cold sandwiches, home style soups, chicken wings and Italian desserts. A menu that gives guests a taste for each to appreciate.
We were in a pizza mood but oddly we didn’t agree with what to order for a change. We settled for a large (16”) pizza with half pepperoni only for her and half meat lovers for me. We also decided to have a wine night instead of beer so ordered the DaVinci Chianti by the glass.
Since they were a bit busy it took a little while for our pizza to arrive. The staff made up for the wait with their friendly attitudes and smiles. It's not something we always get when the staff is so busy but they took the time to be nice and make us feel welcome.
The pizza arrived fresh, hot and scrumptious. We were hungry after a long day on the beach sunning ourselves and tormenting ourselves on a wave rider. We lunged into our meal and devoured the entire pie. We did take the time to note that it tasted good, was cheesy and hit the spot for both of us.
