North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is our fall family vacation spot for beach, sun, pool and plenty of restaurants from which to choose. My wife and I are pizza fanatics and we hone in on a good pizza place like a bloodhound after a fox. And once we find a good spot, we frequent it. For the Grand Strand, our choice is Benito’s Brick Oven Pizza in North Myrtle. We found it at its original location and followed it to the new and improved location. Either way they produce the best brick oven pizza that the Grand Strand has to offer.
Benito’s is a family owned restaurant that opened in 1989 and while there have been some transformations; it has become one of the local’s favorite spots. That’s saying a lot considering the vast number of restaurants that line the Grand Strand. I always feel good about finding one of these local’s joints as a visitor to a city – makes me feel like I got some inside information, ha-ha!
Well, what makes Benito’s so special? Very simply … the wood-fired brick oven, the recipes and the customer service. They found the secret to success and it has a lot to do with hard work and caring about their guests. So many businesses forget that these days.
One of these days I’ll branch out and try one of their pastas or calzones that I hear so much about. So far, I’ve concentrated very hard on the New York style pizza and loving every crumb. Feel free to dine in but we often call to place the order and take it back to our condo with us. I love ordering too much so I can have leftovers for lunch the next day. It is just as good and just as much attention goes into devouring every crumb.
The pizza has a crispy crust with just the right amount of sauce, not too much and not too little. The all natural ingredients showcase a chewy delicious cheese blend that draws you back in for another bite. The flavors are all I need in a New York style pizza!
If you need to read it, then yes – I recommend Benito’s as the Grand Strand’s best pizza joint.
